Dance of the Bootlegger

Dance of the Bootlegger

In the new film DANCE OF THE BOOTLEGGER, Director Adam Karp uncovers the story of this often-overlooked window of American Film history through the lens of a projectionist and family man, Woody Wise. In 1974, the FBI, under the direction of the Motion Picture Association, raided the film collections of underground film dealers, collectors, historians, and even well-known actors. Within months, private collections were confiscated or destroyed, and Woody Wise found himself in the crosshairs of the Motion Picture Association of America and the FBI.

TWO SPECIAL CENTENNIAL TRIBUTES!

1925 saw the birth of two immortals of show business. For this ninth edition of our annual trip through the world of Kinescopes, we pay tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. and Dick Van Dyke. From the film archives of Stu and Stan, we will take an affectionate look back at some of the television work these two brilliant performers gave audiences before the advent of videotape. Sammy Davis Jr. passed away at the age of 64 in 1990. Dick Van Dyke is about to celebrate his centennial birthday. He knows we are honoring him and has seen the clips we are presenting in tribute to him.
