For more than half a century, Cinephiles have gathered over Labor Day Weekend to celebrate the movies at the annual Cinecon Classic Film Festival. Cinecon is where archivists, authors, collectors, and film fans come together for five days of classic film & TV screenings, celebrity guests, and special programs. Now celebrating its 62nd year, this year’s festival will be filled with some of the rarest and most unusual material we’ve ever presented.

WEST LOS ANGELES
Located in the heart of L.A.’s Westside on Santa Monica Boulevard just west of the 405 Freeway, the Nuart Theatre features an eclectic mix of programming, as detailed in the bimonthly Nuart Film Calendar. It is one of the country’s most renowned and prestigious epicenters for independent film, foreign language cinema, documentaries, animation festivals and restored classics. Having hosted many world premiere engagements as well as a number of highly anticipated film series over the past 30 years, the Nuart Theatre holds the distinction of being Landmark’s first theatre acquisition. Operated by Landmark since 1974, it was extensively renovated in 2006. This historic theater offers 1 Screen 4K DLP Digital Projection and 35mm Projection with 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound.
The Nuart also features frequent in-person appearances and Q&A sessions from stars and filmmakers such as Lena Dunham, Werner Herzog, Harmony Korine, John Sayles, Todd Solondz, Harry Dean Stanton and Paul Williams. In addition to offering unique films, every Friday night at midnight, the theatre is also L.A.’s home for The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which plays every Saturday at midnight.

Cinecon Classic Film Festival is excited to announce that this year, our host hotel is the beautiful Holiday Inn Express West Los Angeles, which is conveniently located right next door to the Nuart Theatre! With a stay at Holiday Inn Express West Los Angeles by IHG, you’ll be centrally located in Los Angeles, within a 5-minute drive of University of California, Los Angeles, and Westwood Village. This hotel is 5.1 mi from Santa Monica Pier and 5.4 mi from the Sunset Strip. Make yourself at home in one of the 78 guestrooms, each featuring a refrigerator and microwave. 55-inch LED televisions with cable programming provide entertainment, while complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected. Conveniences include safes, desks, and phones with free local calls. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant or snacks in the hotel’s coffee shop/cafe. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily from 6 AM to 9:30 AM. Discounted parking is available in the hotel garage for $15 per day.
