A Personal Thank You
I want to take this opportunity to personally thank all you
Cinecon members for making last year's event one of the friendliest years for
our volunteers. It just seems like everyone was just going out of their way to
make it a more pleasant weekend for those poor, tired, die-hard volunteers.
It takes a lot of work for the volunteers to get their shifts started. They all try so hard to keep those lines moving as quickly as they can. They go out of their way to make sure they have all the information that might be needed to help all of you with any questions you might have from year to year. And when those lines sometimes get a little out of control, they try so hard to be patient with each one of you, even as they are sometimes getting yelled at, which as you all know by now, is not a very nice thing to do.
So, this is a special "THANK YOU" to each and everyone of you who took the extra time last year to stop by those volunteer tables and just say hello and to even ask how they were doing, as you were remembering them from past years. I want you to know how good it makes them feel, to think they are being so helpful to you all.
Please keep all that good will flowing again this year. The happier you keep those volunteers, the happier the show will run. So as you are running by those volunteers tables on the way to that next film you want to see, or on the way to buy that great bargain you know is waiting for you in the dealers' room, give those people sitting at those tables a quick hello.
Lastly, while you are going through this ever so busy weekend we have planned for you, if you run into that grouchy Bob Birchard, "PLEASE" take the time to thank him also. We would not have a show every year if it were not for all the work he and the rest of our staff members do ALL year long.
Your Volunteer Coordinator,
